  • This is a family-friendly sightseeing and walking course where you comfortably ascend by cable car from the Cable Car Lower Station (120m) to the Upper Station (580m), then lightly climb about 280 wooden deck stairs to Gogebong Peak Observatory and the summit (638m).
  • ️ Caution: Slippery conditions on observation deck stairs when icy.
  • ️ Prior confirmation of cable car operation is required in case of adverse weather conditions (e.g., strong winds, lightning).

  • From Haenam Intercity Bus Terminal, take the rural bus (Haenam GyoTong) bound for Daeheungsa Temple and get off at the Daeheungsa Temple terminus (near the ticket office) (approx. 25 min, operates every 30 min to 1 hour)
  • For Osojae direction, it is recommended to take a local bus bound for Namchang/Wando from the terminal and get off at Osojae Shelter, or use a Haenam taxi.

  • Caution: Slippery when observatory deck stairs are icy
  • Check in advance if the cable car is operating during adverse weather conditions (strong winds, lightning, etc.)
  • When hiking in winter, steep iron stairs and rocky sections are prone to slipping due to icing, so crampons and cold-weather gear are essential.

  • The natural stone gate 'Gureumdari' located just before Duryunbong Peak is a representative photo zone of Duryunsan Provincial Park, and from the summit of Garyeonbong Peak, you can enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Dadohae Archipelago in all directions.
  • Next to the helipad near Maniljae Pass, a giant 'Cheonnyeonsu' zelkova tree, over 1,200 years old, is preserved, making it a suitable resting spot.

  • From Osojae Mineral Spring (300m) to Osimjae (510m) is a gentle and smooth forest path, but from Osimjae to Noseungbong Peak (685m) and the summit Garyeonbong Peak (703m) is a steep rocky ridge area with steep stairs and ropes.
  • ️ Risk of falls and slips in the rocky ridge section between Noseungbong and Garyeonbong.
  • ️ Rocky sections are very slippery immediately after rain or snow.

Depart from Osojae Mineral Spring and head towards Osimjae (510m above sea level). This is a wide pass between Osojae and Noseungbong Peak. Please proceed with caution for safety.

Course Features

  • Starting gently from Daeheungsa Temple's Daeungjeon Hall (140m), the trail gradually ascends through Bungmireukam Hermitage (380m) and Osimjae Pass (510m), then sharply gains elevation to Noseungbong Peak and Garyeonbong Peak (703m). Afterward, it descends to Maniljae Pass (560m), climbs again to Duryunbong Peak (630m), and finally makes a steep descent via Jinbulam Hermitage to Pyochungsa Temple (140m). This is a challenging traverse route.
  • ️ Caution: Steep stairs and steel cable railing sections in the rocky ridge area near Garyeonbong and Duryunbong are prone to falls.
  • ️ Caution: Ankle injury risk on the scree slope of the descent path from Maniljae towards Jinbulam.
