Elevation Profile
The Silleuksa Temple course is the shortest and most representative route to Yeongbong Peak, often guided as 3.6km one-way, taking around 2 hours and 30 minutes. Although it may seem short, it has many stairs and steep sections, making it not an easy hike for beginners.
Sectional Route Guide
The Silleuksa Temple course is the fastest trailhead to access Woraksan National Park's Yeongbong Peak. It's advisable not to push your pace too hard from the start.
The views are relatively limited, but the steady uphill climb gains elevation. There are many stairs, so you may feel fatigue in your legs quickly.
As you get closer to the summit, the views open up, and you can feel the unique rocky ridge of Woraksan National Park. The summit area can be very windy.

The Deokjusa Temple course is often introduced as a 6km one-way route, taking approximately 3 hours and 30-40 minutes, and is a representative route for experiencing cultural heritage, valleys, and the rock-carved Buddha. Although it is longer and has more stairs than the Sinheungsa Temple course, leading to greater physical exertion, it offers the most balanced experience of Woraksan National Park's attractions.
Sectional Route Guide
This section follows Deokju Valley, encountering temples and a rock-carved Buddha. The initial atmosphere is relaxed, but the ascent becomes serious thereafter.
This is a key physical challenge section featuring Woraksan National Park's characteristic stairs and steep inclines. Your heart rate will rise quickly, so maintaining steady breathing is important.
As you ascend to the summit, rocks and views open up. If the wind is strong, the perceived difficulty can significantly increase.

There are also records of through-hikes starting from Bodeogam Hermitage and descending to Deokjusa Temple, covering approximately 11km and taking around 6 hours and 30 minutes.
Sectional Route Guide
The Bodeogam Hermitage starting point has a challenging incline from the beginning, quickly gaining elevation. The views of Woraksan National Park begin to open up in earnest.
The repeated ascents and descents along the ridge make it feel longer than its actual distance. The scenery is beautiful, but the perceived difficulty makes it a representative advanced section of Woraksan National Park.
