Course Features

  • Depart from Mulhangyegok Parking Lot, pass Hwangnyongsa Temple, and then at the pine forest three-way intersection, ascend to Jjoksaegol Valley, which is to the right towards the valley. Up to Jjoksaegol Samgeori, which is on the main ridge, there is a steep section mainly composed of rocky paths. Once you reach the ridge, the path to the summit is relatively gentle and short.
  • The section just before joining the upper ridge of Jjoksaegol Valley is steep and rocky, so be careful of ankle injuries.
  • During heavy snowfall in winter, crampons are essential to prevent slipping on icy valley areas and frozen surfaces.

Public Transportation Access

  • After getting off KTX/regular train at Yeongdong Station on the Gyeongbu Line, take a Yeongdong-gun rural bus (Nos. 640, 642, etc., operating approximately 5 times a day) towards Mulhangyegok Valley from the station square bus stop and get off at the Mulhan-ri terminus (approx. 1 hour 10 minutes travel time).
  • Alternatively, if you get off at Hwanggan Station and take a taxi, it takes about 25 minutes to Mulhangyegok (fare approximately 30,000 won).
  • Public transportation to Domaryeong is extremely rare, so it is recommended to charter a taxi from Yeongdong Station or Hwanggan Station.

  • From Mulhangyegok Parking Lot to Sammagoljae Pass, you will gently gain elevation while listening to the refreshing sound of water. Afterward, from Samdobong Peak to Seokgibong Peak and the summit of Minjujisan Mountain, you will traverse an open alpine main ridge. After reaching the highest peak, this is a representative loop course that returns to the starting point by following a steep slope towards Jjoksaegol Valley.
  • The Seokgibong Peak summit and the surrounding 1.5km section are rocky areas with sloped ropes and steel cable safety railings, posing a high risk of falling.

Course Features

  • Starting the hike at Domaryeong Pass (840m above sea level) and following the ridge reduces the burden of elevation gain. This is a one-way ridge hike that passes over Gakhosan Peak (1202m), continues along a gentle ridge to an unmanned shelter and the summit of Minjujisan Mountain (1242m), and then descends through the dense forest of Jjoksaegol Valley to the Mulhangyegok Valley parking lot.
  • During the Gakhosan Mountain climb and in the narrow, rocky Kalbawi section near the summit, exercise extreme caution with rope securing and safe walking.
  • Domaryeong parking lot and Mulhangyegok Valley parking lot, the descent point, are far apart by road, so calling a taxi is recommended if traveling by personal car.
