Elevation Profile

Gwanneumbong

The course from Donghaksa Temple, passing Eunseonpokpo Falls and ascending to Gwanneumbong Peak, is a one-way trip of 4.3~4.4km, taking approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes. It is often introduced as the shortest representative course of Gyeryongsan National Park. Although the distance is short, there are many stairs and uphill sections, so the perceived difficulty is often felt to be upper-intermediate.

Sectional Route Guide

1
Donghaksa Temple Parking Lot → Donghaksa Temple
Early Approach Gentle

After entering the park, the section to Donghaksa is a relatively easy approach. It's good for getting into a rhythm before the hike.

It's good to walk at a pace that warms up your body sufficiently in the early stages, rather than going too slowly.
2
Donghaksa Temple → Eunseonpokpo Falls
Valley and temple atmosphere

This section offers a vibrant valley and forest trail atmosphere. Since the incline becomes steeper from here, it's best to stabilize your breathing in this section.

It's good to take a short break before or after Eunseonpokpo Falls.
3
Eunseonpokpo Falls → Gwanneumbong Peak
Steep Slopes & Stairs Key

This is the core physical challenge section of the shortest course, with concentrated uphill climbs and stairs. There are rocks and exposed areas just before the summit, so the wind may feel stronger.

If you rush because it's short, you'll experience significant knee and calf fatigue during the descent.

Preparation & Gear

  • More than 1L of water
  • Windbreaker
  • Trekking poles recommended
